Smaller businesses account for the majority of commercial emissions in Suffolk, but very few have the spare resource to lower their carbon footprint. That’s where we come in!
In a survey for the Small and Medium Enterprise Climate Hub, 58% identified a lack of skills, knowledge and time as a key reason for why they were not able to take action on carbon.
We get it, whether it’s staying up to date with the developing technology (and jargon), or finding the time to plan meaningful action, it can seem like a lot. But we are here to help businesses, for free!
The Net Zero Business Advisor Service is provided free of charge to any Suffolk-based business and is designed to be flexible to business needs. Whether your challenge is about starting a footprint, cutting energy costs, or engaging staff and suppliers, our team of expert and impartial advisors are there to chat it through.
Over 1000 businesses have already benefited from this service, ranging from a full site audit through to a simple phone conversation. 94% rated the information they received as good or excellent, and 75% said it had helped them identify good opportunities for carbon savings. Over 700 Suffolk businesses supported by the SPSL funding have saved over 1,100 tonnes of carbon dioxide and cut annual costs by upwards of £700,000.
The consultancy team are all qualified in environmental management and have extensive experience in delivering environmental support to small and medium businesses.
“From the first meeting right through to the application submission, our advisor was very knowledgeable, helped us to overcome some obstacles as well as providing us with useful guidance and suggestions” – Tracey B., Company Accountant at a print firm that used our services to establish a decarbonisation plan.
This service is delivered by Groundwork East in support of the Suffolk Climate Emergency Plan, the ambitious strategy driving Suffolk towards carbon neutrality by 2030. This support is jointly funded by Suffolk Public Sector Leaders and the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
